The CIA wouldnt have cried over simon but them being willing to work with monsters is what broke michael. If Carlos and Fiona were still together she would not have been so into Michaels business and he and Sonja could have led the shadow organisation and gotten more alone time ) Holding Fiona responsible for some craziness that went down a million miles away, crying for some drug lords that were forced to let you live. Its too bad Carlos dumped Fiona a little before because some drug dealers got bombed (now THAT was a dumb move. It would have given Michael the ability to right the wrongs hes seen. It hides the organisation in plain sight. The plan of Michael taking over the organisation was brilliant. Michael turning himself in to James to save sonja probably had more to do with him having authentic feelings for her (at least within that environment). No deals for monsters, no man left behind, lead from the front.įiona killing to guys was not a fix all, it would just create a window for escape that everyone would need to use at the same time. It showed him the parts of the CIA he hated were the same parts of James organisation that he loved. Simon being brought in on the op proved actions only have consequences for some.

I got the full series on dvd and am.now rewatching with all the commentary and deleted scenes but am only on season 2. There's no way to know how things would have went if they had gone differently.įirst off I love season 7. Michael is now, indirectly, responsible for Nate Westen, Madeline Westen and Frank Westen’s death. Either option would have saved Madeline Westen’s life. If Michael had simply (I) let James and Kendrick run into Sam and Jesse (he could have even killed Simon and still taken them down, the CIA wasn’t going to cry over Simon) or (II) let Sonya take the fall for the leak and regroup and find another plan to take down James because Michael would presumably be James #2 (or at the very least get a promotion). Michael’s mom decides to be a bad ass and blows up James’ men to kingdom come but take herself with them. It’s too late though because James then sends men after Michael’s mom, Jesse and Charlie. This is only stopped by Fiona coming to snap Michael out of whatever bullshit was making him do this. Michael then turns himself in to James (another dumb move as this was another out which could have saved his Mom’s life) and then the stupid ass plan where Michael will supposedly take over yet another shadow government organization comes into fruition. Regardless, as we all know Fiona is told to stand down and Michael lets James and Sonya escape. Fiona, given her track record, most likely could have taken out 2 men that were guarding Michael’s mom during that op. This is the beginning of the end for Michael’s mom. He lets James and Sonya get away without running into Sam and Jesse. Sure dumb move on part of the CIA, but actions have consequences. On my most recent watch-through I’ve come to the conclusion Michael got his own mom killed.ĭuring season 7 (an awful season, by far the worst) Michael lets James Kendrick go because the CIA brought in Simon. So I’ve rewatched the series start to finish about 7-8 times.
